Learn Victorian skills

If the BBC2 television series Victorian Farm has inspired you to step back in time and learn the skills used at the turn of the century, why not sign up to one of the new courses at Acton Scott farm? The historic working farm, in Shropshire, achieved stardom in the television documentary, which is set to return to our screens with three new programmes culminating in a Christmas special.

The success of the show has meant there has been strong demand for the traditional skills courses which are due to continue into next spring.

Since the original screening of the television series the farm has undergone several improvements, with a new café and workshops, improved access and a new entrance and reception hall. The courses, which only use materials and resources available in Victorian times, include hedge laying, making butter, ploughing, blacksmithing and a day in the life of a Victorian farmer’s wife, allowing participants to get a truly authentic taste of life in a bygone era.
