True heir to an estate returns home

There was a hair-raising experience for auctioneers at a recent Bonhams sale, when a lock of Catherine Parr’s blonde tresses sold for over £2,000.

The sixth wife of Henry VIII, Catherine died in 1548. The lock now resides in Worcestershire on the Wick Estate – once given to Catherine by Henry.

Current resident and buyer of the regal keepsake, Charles Hudson, was thrilled to bring the rare item back to its home.

A British treasure in its own right, Bonhams was founded in 1793 and offers some incredible artefacts for auction. Tel: (020) 7393 3900; www.bonhams.com.
